Welcome!

I'm a wife to my "Mr. Right". A momma of five. A maker of slow food and simple living. A collector of memories, a keeper of books, and a champion for books that make memories. An addict who likes my half-and-half with a splash of coffee. A fractured pot transformed by the One Who makes broken things beautiful. I heart homeschooling, brake for libraries, and am glad you're here with me on the journey! Be sure to subscribe to my monthly newsletter. The 2023 TUH Gift Guide for Book Lovers

Bookish mug

There are ten of us in total. We gather in my living room every fourth Monday of the month. Scootching our chairs close together, we open our books. Whether we loved it or hated it, we're always ready to talk about it. We've got big thoughts about the month's title and even bigger thoughts about books in general. We're a book club.

Before settling in for a great discussion, I almost always pass out a slice of this or a scoop of that--a sweet treat for the women to enjoy. They balance their plates precariously on their laps and hold a hot cup of something in their hands. In the last two years of playing hostess to this motley crew of women, I've slowly curated a collection of book-themed mugs.

As a minimalist, I've never been a collector of tchotchkes. Who needs more trinkets and trifles to dust? I've happily designated prime cupboard real estate for my silly mug collection, however. Why? Because love is in the details. I want each of these book-fiend friends of mine to feel loved the moment they walk through my door. They come in from the cold, slough off their coats and boots, and are handed a hot drink. Trouble is, I've only got 6 bookish mugs. Remember, I mentioned there are ten of us?

Naturally, I've added a few mug options to my Christmas wish list like this one and this one in hopes of completing my set by the new year. But that's not all. There are a few other readerly items I've got my eye on because as a word nerd, I'm not just here for the books. I'm here for the whole literary lifestyle.

You too? As in years past, I've compiled a list of gift ideas for all my fellow book lovers.

Recipes from the World of Tolkien

When hosting my monthly book club, I always love to make the special treat that was mentioned in the book we will be discussing or that pairs nicely with the plot of the story.

Embroidered Book Sleeve

I can't tell you the number of times I've creased the cover or pages of a book when I hastily stashed it in my purse while rushing out the door. A book sleeve is like a wallet for your book so that you can carry it in a book bag, backpack, or purse without destroying the edges or binding. Book sleeves come in all kinds of colors and prints, but this handmade embroidered sleeve is just the right amount of extra to hold a treasured title.

Book Lovers Tea Set

There's a reason that book-and-tea memes are so popular. Book people are usually hot drink people. Gift your favorite bibliophile a sample tea box featuring the titles of famous romance or adventure novels.

Wireless Earbuds

I use my earbuds so often for audiobooks, I'm thinking of getting a second pair so that I always have one set charging and one set ready to use.

Bibliophiles like books. But we also like book-ish-themed treasures--creature comforts that elevate our reading experiences. If you're a fellow word nerd, feel free to use this as a guide to shop for those you love or stealthily pass it under the doorframes of all the secret Santas who have your name on their list. I plan to!

  1. I love all of these book related gifts. My son is 26 years old and went to public school. Christian private preschool. Before I had him I worked at daycare Center. Took few classes in Elementary Education. Since I watch my almost 3 year old granddaughter. Homeschool mom blogs are full of fantastic ideas. I don't think you all realize how many activities you give. Book ideas God bless you. Your kids are very lucky to have you.
