Learning the Scientific Method {with video}

After a year of putting together homespun nature study units, I switched gears, took a big gulp, and plunked down a hefty chunk of change to purchase the entire Noeo Science Chemistry 1.  I typically do not buy all-in-one-box sets, but instead choose to piece curriculum together by buying some second-hand books and utilizing the library for all the rest.  (This post contains affiliate links. But, as I've mentioned, Chemistry has NEVER been my thing.  I knew that in order to due it justice, I had to enlist the help of A BOXED SET.

I'm so glad I did!  Noeo Science has been fantastic and worth every penny...in my humble opinion. We have all been enjoying our twice-a-week kitchen chemistry adventures, including me...TRUE STORY!

I thought I'd share two of our more recent projects.

After reading a very informative book, How to Think Like a Scientist, which details the five major steps to the scientific method, my three older children devised a science project to practice their new-found knowledge.





















In case you are curious, the five steps of the scientific method are...

1. Ask a question.
2. Do background research.
3. Construct a hypothesis (theory).
4. Test your hypothesis by doing an experiment.
5. Analyze your data and draw a conclusion.

Then, share your results!
